bend the legs and add a pine top
Sean sent me this a long time ago. I’m cleaning out the garage and have saved all the letters ever sent to me. I never go back and reread them, but I save them out of respect for the people I suppose. Or to know that someone cared about me. As a monument to friendships? Actually, I’m not sure why.
Find an intern who will digitize all your paperwork. Put an ad on Craigslist “Intern needed. Learn the ins and outs of Junk Merchandising. All genders and races are welcome! No pay, but great experience. Build your resume!”
Then get the person to digitize and categorize your hoard. Then you can get rid of the actual paperwork. Or maybe put it in a box and send it to the Smithsonian. Let them deal with it.
Many of those letters were written before blogs and emails. In fact, I bet there are more than one frantic plea for money and support from Oggy Bleacher. I won’t be offended if you trash my letters. They were stepping stones and shouldn’t become burdens. I’ll write more. I promise!

I’m gonna scan some here…I have a fat stack of your retarded scrawl on dubiously stained scrap paper and food wrappers. Couldn’t throw that stuff out for the world.

Rolston, I sent you a letter when you were in Turkey and you didn’t save it. I think it might be the only letter I’ve ever sent. Letters are hard to write.

I recognise the style though I don’t remember this add in particular.
What I do remember is getting hit in the face with a very similar device. A friend of mine in the army discovered I had defiled the sanctity of his relationship with a local girl. He dislocated my jaw and broke a few teeth, so I had to hurt him pretty bad. Which is a terrible shame ’cause I really liked him and the girl was a worthless harlot.

you got hit with a fitted kitchen? I’m reading cormac mccarthy’s suttree right now. He is in a bar and a fight breaks out and someone drops a floor buffer on his head. Kind of a funny moment, even though it nearly kills him.

The Viz thing was based on adds for a thing called a “Bullworker”. It consisted of a hydraulic piston that you compressed to get a work out. You could work it via handles on each end, or with two straps attached to the side.
I actually got hit with one of those big springy things for building your body up. Kinda like a big fork spring with a handlebar on each end. You bend it and the resistance works your muscles instead of weights.
I really like McCarthy, I recently read “The Road”. Unexpectedly good.
On another note; a long, long time ago, I was involved in an altercation during which a young man was crushed with one of those hand operated road thumpers. You know the type used for flattening tarmac or pounding dirt. It had a gasolene engine with a pull start cord.
