It’s so weird to make collages. What do you do with them? Sonja and I made some things together tonite. It was fun. But now what? When I look on flickr I think to myself, “There’s too much art out there. We need to stop making stuff.” But we never grow up, in the sense that we never stop saying, “Look what I made today.” I get so proud of myself, and what’s wrong with that? All’s it took was a little glue and a little paper.

  1. In the art world, we call that “mixed-media”. You could probably exhibit that stuff and make a few bucks!

  2. Man,
if you’d spent as much time as I have in galleries -looking at what passes for “Art”, you’d be out finding yourself an agent right now.
History is loaded to the gills with artsy pretenders and a cursory glance at the art scene today would quickly inform you that talent and art are seldom related. I believe the latest Gilbert and George show actually features the use of human excrement as a “medium”.
    Ask yourself this:
” Do I still wanna be digging ditches when I’m fifty ?”.

  3. i wanted to see that g & g show. i’ve had friends tell me that i would like it. hearing that they use shit as a medium tells me that i probably wouldn’t. sounds very unoriginal and gimicky. you don’t need to shock me. just use paint.

  6. I’d never heard of Gilbert and George. I checked them on wikipedia. I liked this part: “in May 2007…a work entitled ‘Planed’ was made available as a free file download from the BBC and Guardian websites for 48 hours. People who downloaded the files could then print off and assemble the piece, and own an original Gilbert and George work for free.”
Not to get too arty and conceptual, but I like the idea of a piece of art being distributed only over the internet. Feel free, at this time, to download the entire oeuvre of My Robot Is Pregnant and own an original jonrolston.

Then go to http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/oeuvre and listen to the computer say oeuvre.
