This was so deep in the mission it became excelsior. (San Francisco) I looked up excelsior once in the dictionary, it is wood shaving packing material. Why that became the name of a district, I don’t know. A lot of warehouses?
I wanted to title this post, “Those Mexicans will say anything”, but it was starting to get a little racist in here. However, from what little I understand of Mexican Spanish, it does seem that Political Correctness has not hit that culture yet.
Prime example: Chino means Chinaman. The burrito joint here in the richmond (a predominantly asian district) is called Chino’s. I can not imagine opening up a sandwich shop called Chinaman’s.
If you’re fat, they call you fat. If you are black they call you black.
Can someone correct me where I’m wrong? Help me understand?
