So if you’re living in Venice and you buy a new couch, what do you do with the old one that’s still in good condition? You can’t really put it on the street, or it will sink and that would be littering and it wouldn’t take too many people throwing old couches in the water on the corner before you couldn’t even row your boat to the market with out running aground on soggy furniture.

Molly, who’s been there, may have some insight. Is there a recycling service in Venice? How does garbage collection work?

  2. Thank god you’re not the first to ask the question: http://www.travel-tidbits.com/tidbits/005059.shtml

I’ve been there, too. I can’t remember what I did with my garbage. I guess there must have been a can somewhere. Hard to find a bathroom, though. I ate some bad meat the evening before riding in and I think I had to run all the way back to the Venice train station to take care of business. Yeesh.

  3. They need to oil those rams. The boom was so jerky. Or maybe the kid is new and hasn’t fine-tuned the controls. So it looks like there is still room to leave a half way decent couch on the sidewalk. Still, I think there’s room for an independent guy with a boat to go make some money over there hauling.
