a city destroyed

The dregs of honey comb from the backyard hive. Rats got in and ate a bunch, then pooped all over the rest. Spiders and moths and slugs and earwigs are making it home now. Robber bees come through in the afternoon and drink free honey.

  1. This is so sad. Was it your hive? If so are you going to replace it?

  2. I’m putting the hive on the roof and eventually I’ll get more bees. I’m waiting to catch a swarm or pull a few frames from my neighbors hive this summer when they are a large population. Hopefully the bees will raise a new queen and start a new hive in mine. Having them in the backyard meant no one could really go in the backyard!
