test only station

This is a gas station garage bay. Now a waiting room while a kid sticks a sensor in the tailpipe of your vehicle and sees if you are a gross polluter or not. I failed the test because my gas cap leaked too many fumes. Bought a new gas cap and hopefully I’m all set. Gotta go back for a retest. Back in New Hampshire they don’t have emissions tests. Not sure if many states do.

  2. Wisconsin has emissions tests but no overall inspection like New Hampshire does. You have to take the test every other year and it’s free. Compared to NH, we got it easy!

  3. I have been in that “waiting room”… 19th and Lincoln. I always thought the plant was a nice touch, thoughtful. Do they still have the chair that literally swallows your ass so that when you attempt to get up, you have to use your arms to vault out of it? That was how I past the time while waiting for my results, watching people struggle to get out of that chair. Good times.

  4. we’ve got it the same out here in cali, lyle. i think smogging sucks compared to inspection. aside from replacing the gas cap, most smog repairs are $$$$$$. i lost my favorite vehicle ever to the smog monster. they made me take it off the road. it probably wouldn’t have made it through an inspection either. i sure miss heavy metal.

  5. You got bigger things to worry about in California, my friend. Pretty soon the only heavy metal available to you will be a Schwinn.

  6. CT had emissions AND inspection before you can get plates. I had to register my old Camaro at my grandparents address in Keene since they let you register before getting the inspection sticker (which I wouldn’t bother with since CT cops didn’t know to look for it). Also registered my mostly bondo VW van in Mass and skipped off to CA without the inspection. God I miss New England’s close state lines.

  8. did the guy tell you about the assistance program? the state will pay up to $500 worth of smog repairs, all you have to come up with is $100.
