junk mail

1007couch.jpg
I got sucked back in for one last job…help a team sell a $7,000 couch. I thought I was done with the junk mail factory…we went up to where the California Cheese commercials are filmed and put this couch down in a field of cow shit. Then we drove it down the road and put it in front of these rocks. Coming to a magazine near you…

  3. If that seven thousand dollar couch looks that fabulous in a field of cow shit, just imagine how crazy fantastic it will look in my 290 sq. ft. loft space/studio/squat/hovel under the Aurora St./Hwy 99 bridge! Fucking hell. I must have it. MUST.

  4. Of course, I also think – what the hell is up with the tiny flag on the c-stand in what looks to be mid-to-late afternoon daylight? It makes… no sense.

  5. the sun was actually pretty low in the sky and she was shooting perpendicular to it (you know what I mean?) so that was keeping some glare of
    f her lens.

  6. A hobo holding a piece of black foam core is way cheaper than that $189 C-stand and $67 flag. Did the photographer bring her own bottles of San Pellegrino or did the agency supply her with a nice cooler full? Sorry, I’m a little bitter about “not making it in the industry” yet.

Speaking of couches, I laid on a pair today for rudimentary light tests. A friend was shooting Nick Hornby in a fancy-schmancy hotel here in Seattle, and there was a nice scotch on the rocks as a prop that I was able to drink after we were finished.

  7. She brought her own bottled water, a brand I’d never seen.

I was always excited about the free props at the end of the shoot. my house looks like a jungle thanks to all the free plants I’ve taken home. I thought the city garbage dump was a great place for free stuff, then I got a job on photo shoots! That stuff is clean and new on top of being free!

Thanks for the photos, by the way. Next time you think of it, take a behind the scenes photo, if you can. There is always some elaborate contraption to help create a reality on the photo shoot. I’d love to see it.
