her body was a box of dead batteries
burn candles to change your life.
that little flame will melt wax and answer your prayer.
it’s more than a scientific process.
god reads smoke.
it drifts upwards while buildings burn down.

When those polar caps finish melting, there won’t be any work for the natives in advertising.
This book from 1919 is about how and why we should abolish alcohol in the United States. I can’t say I’ve read it…
Last night I talked to a woman whose mother is dying.
“It felt so strange to clean out her refrigerator. It was like saying, ‘You’ll never be back here.’”
Even though her mother’s mind is 100 percent, her blood is drying up and it doesn’t even hurt. One morning she won’t wake up. Every night before she goes to sleep she has to wonder…
what’s next?
what if there’s nothing?
what if there is something, but I can’t remember even one thing about this life?
I don’t want this woman to be scared, I don’t want the daughter to be scared, I don’t want anyone to die, I wish people just went to the moon and we’ll meet up later.
My producer has developed a website that let’s you send an ecard where the font is like a ransom note. He also let’s you select from about 12 hella sick images like the classic one above. Get writing!
I spent the evening listening to Joe Frank, an amazing storyteller. You can listen to him for free here.
I gave them my email address and picked out a password, and then listened to “The Bible Salesman”. It is worth the minimal effort to hear the genius of this man’s words. Mind blowing. I love words and I listen to Joe Frank. Thank you.
These are some examples of late 1970′s technology and graphic design. All these tapes have paper labels glued onto the cartridge rather than the info printed directly onto it. Pay special attention to the tape on the bottom left – a Sony Walkman demonstration tape. I’m guessing this was used at department stores by the sales clerk to show buyers how a Sony Walkman would work. The A side is “Jungle Strut” by The Square, the B side is Symphony No. 8 by Dvorak.
Here are scans of some cases. The TDK case has a date of 1977. No other dates found.
The weird thing is, electric guitars aren’t themselves electric. They are magnetic. You don’t plug the guitar into the outlet, or ever change its batteries. The amplifier is the thing that is electric. It picks up the oscillations of the magnetic fields of each string through the humbucker and pick up coils and amplifies them. With electricity. But you my friend, are rocking a magnetic guitar.
Here’s what happened last Sunday.
My friend John, at “We Sell Whole Boar”, is the guy who takes the photos you see in text books. His latest assignment was to get some pictures of developmentally disabled students, but no schools would give him access.
Anyway, John also has helped me tremendously with the construction of this site, including building a wiki page, where anyone can add content, edit it, erase it, piss people off or make them incredibly happy. Take a look at it, play around with it. I’m going to have a big debut party for it in a few weeks. This is a beta test for those of you who take the time to read as well as look at the pictures…thanks!
