i laugh that although he is down, he’s taking life by the horns and controlling his destiny. a man of action. i imagine he’ll just clog the pot and in the next frame his wife would be harping about the water on the floor and he’d still be there with a new speech bubble that says, “drat.”

in the lichtenstein, i think the drips are like icicles.

The drippy bubble actually looks like it did pop, to me. It’s as if the bottom blew out and the drips are the frayed bubble fabric.

The whole picture is a real downer. I don’t necessarily like being bummed out but I applaud the artist for invoking the emotion.

Thanks for the link! What other emotions are expressed through the thought/speech bubble itself? Maybe alarm, if they give it pointy edges all around…can a thought bubble pop?
