The grout line! That’s what the problem is. I couldn’t figure that out. Sean and I used tape to mask off areas, so of course it came out pretty even…lesson for next time.

I think it looks pretty good. Your observations are sound, though. Lots of pointy corners and the mortar is uniform in width throughout the wall. Is that something you can touch up?
