For those that didn’t make it to the Pep Rally in 1990 at Portsmouth High School, early that day Ken, Ron and I skipped class and went to the costume store in Bowl-A-Rama plaza. Ken stole a full size gorilla costume. Back at school he put it on and ran out onto the floor during a cheerleader routine.

Also, I believe the Gap was there before I moved away. Ken was generally riding around unmasked back then, so I guess that has changed. Also, I’m pretty sure it never got dark in Portsmouth when I lived there.

Motorbikes Plus, aka Thompa and Staples shop. They’re closed on Mondays, so Hawkins kept calling in saying, “Hey ahhh, gut a yamaha needs some work, aint gettin any spark, like to bring it in IF I COULD.”

“Sure, when can you get it in here?”

“Ahhh, how bou Mondee?”

“We’re closed on Mondays.”

“WHATTHEFUCKYOURECLOSEDONMONDAYS???JEEEESUSSSFUCKINCHRISTINEEDMYBIKELOOKEDATAND YOURECLOSED?”

They figured out pretty quick whenever someone freaks out they’re closed on monday it’s Hawkins calling.

You can see the Gap, a new edition since you’ve been there, and that’s market square at the end. Ken Hawkins is in the Chuckie mask, waving to the crowd, wasted for sure.

You fixing this any time soon? My folks were out here this week and they were talking up how much Portsmouth has changed in the last 10 years. I’m eager to see for myself. It’s only been 4 years sine I was last there but I don’t remember stuff too good.
